False labor, or prodromal labor, is surely one of the most frustrating times in any womens pregnancy. The mother-to-be worries that the contractions may stop when she arrives at the hospital and she will be sent home. Conversely, she may also worry that she will deliver at home or in the car on the way to the hospital if she has waited too long. Practitioners and nurses see many women each day in false labor and sometimes it is even hard for the professionals to distinguish if it is the real thing.

The Obstetric Triage Record documents all the data necessary - on one sheet of paper - to decide whether or not to admit the patient. It includes the reson the expectant mother presented herself, a physical assessment, observation of vitals, nursing note, MD orders, diagnosis and the health care professionals decision to admit or send the patient home.
